Thread: Upcoming High End Rewards (Death Shrouds)

  1. #51
I think the better option would be to give robe privileges to whoever has the most kills across all factions. Like, one person at a time on the server.

While I'm sure there will be a better thread to make this criticism in later, I have to agree that OCB needs to be incentivizing smaller groups, not larger ones. The successful 3-man faction is more deserving of the reward. While I get Az's vision of big factions made up of many small groups, that is just plain unrealistic--advances in the tools we use to communicate outside of the game have made this a thing of the past. Skype makes it incredibly easy to form groups at the drop of the hat. To combat this, players need to be either forced or heavily incentivized to be in smaller groups. Giving special rewards only to the big alliances is a mistake and a step in the wrong direction.

yeah OCB isn't like the old factions where it was a lot of different dudes and different groups. the nature of a free server in itself lends itself to having a really tight nit community where basically everyone knows everyone (to an extent) and so you don't have strangers running around forming small groups within each faction. i don't see that changing any time soon unless the population jumps to some ridiculous amount.

Although I don't think there is a large population of individual players who wish to participate in OCB-type pvp but cannot because they don't have a group, rather than creating a system that might cater to them while simultaneously creating zergs, I have no doubt that the many of the already existing groups would take on newer players.

I don't know. Should you fail to design around accessibility because you've driven people off by failing to design around accessibility?

The thing is, if you make items available to one militia group, they have to be available to all groups. Or you are just undercutting your own system.

It's like saying the people of brit can buy item X, but not the people of Occlo. If you want only the main OCB towns to have access, it defeats the purpose of even having rogue options. OCB stands on the shoulders of the rogue nations anyways. To force us to join a zerg in order to get a fancy robe, is just counter productive every which way to Sunday.

Seems like we're trying to boil the ocean. I suggest narrowing your scope if you want a successful patch. Instead of coming up with a million little ideas, why not fix what is wrong first, and then open the scope to add in new ideas second...?

I dunno about this. If you really think about it, the main factions should be like the "super powers" of the UO world. Thus they have more cool stuff. While the rouge towns are more like "rebels" which means you don't have as much cool stuff. The world isn't fair, which means not everyone should be entitled to the same things. The fact of the matter is there shouldn't be 10+ death shrouds floating around the shard. /thread

Who has been driven off due to lack of accessibility? I was under the impression it has been many groups of players that have left rather than single players who felt unable to "get involved" in the pvp.
