So I had a bit of an idea:
What if Super Slayers were blessed, but dropped to your bank account when you died? That way it doesn't become a persistent PvP weapon that you can res and keep using in any situation.
Perhaps it's not the very best solution possible in the entire UNIVERSE, but it's incredibly simple and it gets to the point of making both sides at least relatively happy.

Thats not terrible actually, maybe add in a gold cost also to retrieve it b/c of the amount of magic it takes to pull it from your body and store it in the bank?
You Naked Kamikaze Fence a dungeon and get "phat lootz" no risk high reward....You die by a pk and lose your gold oh well you didnt lose anything worthwhile...but add the cost to retrieve your weapon back from the bank say 5k-15k each time and you now have a risk.
Sounds like a good "middle" idea![]()

That solution completely ignores the fact that dying while in possession of the weapon doesn't result in a turnover. The weapon should not stay in the hands of a player who is not fit to use it.
Well, that's more or less what happens when the item gets blessed. We're discussing solutions for making that situation more palatable, because without blessing a super rare item would never leave a bank box or house in Ultima Online.
People rarely take out Vanqs, for crying out loud. How often would you take out a Super Slayer if there were 9 of them in the entire world?
I can just announce that we'll never bless them, and that's fine. I've come close to doing that. But any blessing suggestion isn't "not taking into account" that an item doesn't get turned over on death, because that's the fundamental, basic, and essential result of blessing. I was making a suggestion about blessings.

I think that the idea of rewarding someone who kills someone with that particular item is more beneficial.
Just like on OSI, where item insurance was in place, and the person who killed the other play was rewarded a particular amount of gold.
In this case, you could make it so that whoever kills the person with the super slayer receives X amount of gold which is withdrawn from the other players bank, and if the person who has the super slayer doesn't have the gold to cover that payment, the item simply becomes lootable.
This resolves a few issues:
#1 - Someone is rewarded for actually killing that person
#2 - It might prevent someone from wanting to instantly res, in chances of getting res killed, if the insurance payment is high enough.
They should also lose X amount of gold even if they die to a monster.
The main problem with that, azria, is this:
WTFBBQ ITEM INSURANCE ON IPY LOOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!111
