    Detectives for new players

I've just started playing IPY2 and have read a little bit about the Detective feature. This was something I always wanted to play back in the old UO days but thought it wasn't really viable back then. The posts I read on here about Detectives are over a year old so I'm not sure if anything has changed. Can someone tell me if these are still fun characters to play?

This is the template I'm thinking of going with...

    Forensics Evaluation 100
    Detect Hidden 100
    Hiding 100
    Stealth 100
    Fencing 100
    Anatomy 90
    Tactics 90
    Magery 20

    How important is Tracking?

Your template seems kind of all over the place, are you looking to fight murderers as well? or just avoid them while you collect clues?

is a good thread with info, it should be mostly still up to date

I wouldn't bother with detective.. will be very boring and not worth the time to build char.

I thought if I had some combat skills I'd be able to help the NPC bounty hunters fight reds but it looks like a detective isn't part of the posse. I guess I'll drop those for more magery and the tracking skill instead.

    Thanks for the link.

    My Detective's Template:

    Forensics Evaluation
    Detect Hidden
    Tracking
    Hiding
    Stealth
    Magery
    Lockpicking

I'm still working on finishing Stealth, Lockpicking and Magery, but essentially the idea is to use him primarilly as a deep dungeon lockpicker for money-making purposes but can also switch to picking up clues when he finds corpses on his way through a dungeon.
