Here's the million dollar question for Az:
Are you open to taking people's suggestions on the implementation of this idea?
As in changing things up so that some of the following occur:
a) Skills in some capacity transfer (players can elect to have certain skills retained)
b) Items / gold in some capacity can be transferred over
c) Rares / housing decorations / donation shop items can be transferred (people seems to be weirdly mad about this one for some reason)
I think its definitely possibly to turn this mass of negativity in a positive thing, or at least mitigate some of the things that a lot of us identify as major flaws / detriments to us participating in this update.
As long as I can purchase gold and play poker there i'll be happy to switch over. It'll be just like hybrid.
*in all honesty though if you made it so your character who is 7x was able to transfer his stats and also have 80 in each of his 7x skills then you would see a lot of people at least try it out (feel more populated). give the veterans a little incentive to even check it out/play.

I think there should be some high risk (we're talking 5-6% chance in a 10 man party) way of bringing things between both worlds. And some manner which allows some skill transfer.
Sorta like how early African man ventured through Europe, Asia, and the Bering Bridge to reach America before the Vikings, Spanish, and Europe came to colonize it.

lol, I think by this point people know Az isn't open to taking suggestions and hears any criticism as a personal attack.
This was well put, myself i dont understand whats going on, all i read was your creating to markets now, Market A and Market B, which one is old other is new, so who i going to want anything old? i felt after reading 26 pages that i myself had to comment. i will not be playing two "lands" if i wanted that i would play two different shards.... fix what you have going on now on a very nice shard with great people.
I think people don't realize what they have until it's gone. I'm thankful Az even contributes his time so that we have such a server to play on.
I personally would love a fresh wipe so everyone has an even start. I just wish we had a custom map to explore, with custom creatures, that had all the same features and ruleset of IPY2.
SKILLGAIN:
I enjoyed the hard grind with limited gains as it felt rewarding, (especially playing the game instead of macroing). The only problem I find with a limit on gains is that once you have become established, it seems harder for the newcomers to keep an interest as he/she may be far behind others.
PKING:
The PK system was always exciting for me because I was constantly looking over my shoulder at all times and expecting a bounty gank attempt at any moment. Many of my friends had been ganked by bounty hunters. I had several occasions where they spawned on me but i was either hidden or was able to tele hide and escape the inevitable. I got lucky and was never caught and jailed. I actually made most of my fortune this way. It seemed to pay very well until I was well over 1400 shorts and was finaly slain by a paladin. I have stat'd my PK 3 times since release and could still slay most on a good day. However, I have had no real incentive to play him for almost a year now. I would turn and fight every paladin I came into battle with. I successfully conquered 86 paladins before taking my first dirt nap with a shrine visit.
I think that the PK/Bounty hunter system is great because PKs have more freedom yet must still be cautious. The only thing missing is a currency/reward system for successfully killing paladins with your PK and a shop to spend it on.
Moral of Diarrhea from Mouth:
Thank you Az for your excellence! Job Well Done!
Looking forward to 2.5
I like my pixels as much as the next guy, but I'm not going to make Zershii v2.0 just so I can ride around on some unicorn or fill a different house with new items from a lotto or from some new monster spawn or whatever. The only thing that would probably get me over there is sheep with golden wool. I don't PK. I don't have a Paladin. I don't have a crafter. I have Zershii and one more almost 7x GM tank mage. I'm just one player but it's more than just the usual malcontents that are voicing their concern.
There was plenty of stuff to fix and expand upon in the existing realm. I'm a pessimist but not so much that I can't look at something and give it a reasonably fair look. I just can't get excited about this.
Az, my inquiry about portals was more or less a joke. I was trying to stay away from this topic but here goes anyways. As pointed out:
These features among others (fixed tracking, account management to change passwords) is what most people have been waiting for since day 1. Remember when there were over 2,000 clients? Yeah, they were here for good ol' IPY with improvements.
I'm sure you could look back at any previous UO:R discussions (back to pre-beta blog posts) and see that the players were generally opposed to it. Make a poll if you think that has changed in the past two years. Ask whether or not the focus should be on:
1) The above features and adjustments to current features
OR
2) Development of the UO:R facet.
I mean, I don't expect you to actually care about the results of such a poll (just like you did with not forcing Razor to address target closest) but I just have to hope you might realize this idea is a complete train wreck.
