I have been playing Uo since 1998 I don't need to think or assume anything, I was there.
Adsl (not much performing I have to say, often as bad as dial-up) and cables existed (along with other tecnologies you never heard about) already and even ISDN could bring you down to 45-50 ping if the shard was located in the same continent, I could say not much changed for Uo players since then. having a decent ping in another continent it's STILL an issue.
I have no idea what's your ping or how is your connection but everyone knows that mounts put you on a disavantage if your ping is above 150 (maybe even 120), which is more or less what euro players ping here at their best, (Asians and Australians/Neo Zeeland players even worse).
It's well know if your ping is hight you operate better on foot this is the reason why Ipy have no mounts on first place.
I 'm sorry you were not aware of all this.

When you have nothing to add to the conversation it might be a good idea to stop typing.

please dont comment if it doesnt affect you, do you think were lying about being slower on mounts ?

With certain players with the shard as is, I still lose tiles, can't get certain spells / combos off / can't teleport too many times without jittering after the cast.

I've played on numerous free shards, mounts and no mounts so I've had plenty of experience on both and servers with different pings (barely, all american). But think of it this way, lets say im chasing azria on foot, every 5-10 seconds I will lose 1 tile with the run speed. But then lets move onto mounts, instead of losing just the 1 tile every 5-10 seconds I'm losing the x amount of tiles (around 2-5) because of the speed difference between mount and foot.

There is one. What is it called again? It probably has a higher active population than IPY now let alone "UO;R Facet Pop"

Also. like ten people have told you to just take your 12 year old fingers off the keyboard, maybe take the advice?

    Pros:

    "Shiny, new"
    UO:R rules
    Parallel play
    More castles
    Tougher monsters
    Factions
    No paladins
    Mounts
Build a new character onto a favorite.
    'I like it'
'I like Pallies as a red this looks interesting'
'this is enough to bring me back'
    'this is innovative; sandboxy'
    Relaunch population booster (gamble)

    Middle:
    It's optional
Potential to add Az's 2009-2010 ideas which didn't make it to IPY2.0

    Cons:
    UO:R rules
Mounts + High Ping = Tile Loss
"Lower population density." or Divide a small pop.
    "I don't like this"
    "I don't play here and I don't like this"
    "Do we really need this?"
"What about that other thing everyone asked"
"Could we just remove Pallies in the Old not add a new Gold"
    "new donation gimmick"
Abusing parallel play to steal, gain tiles or glitch into/through multis
"Some skills and assets should transfer or I won't touch it"
"I didn't understand this when I read the teaser"
    "Sounds like felucca/trammel"
'Az has been known to excite communities with lists of ideas and no follow through.'

I've been checking in on the forums every few weeks to see what's going on with the shard and look for a reason to come back and start playing again. I was really figuring on coming back for IPY 2.5 (if it ever really released), but now I just don't know. This extra facet thing is a huge turn off. The story of this shard is playing out like a shortened version of what happened to retail UO; that is, a development team making changes that the community never wanted, and then dividing the community into different facets to kill off their product. Are we all caught in some sort of demented Ultima Online temporal causality loop or something?

Also, I wonder what the long-term plan for the shard is from a development perspective. If Az has already identified that people like the new UO feeling and building chars/wealth, then what happens when that newness wears off on the other facet? Create a third facet? A fourth? Where does it end? If that's the endgame then all you've really done is stretch out the lifespan of the server by a few more months, and the 400-500 players left over after that newness wears off will be spread between two worlds instead of one.

And if the plan is not to create facet after facet, then you're effectively admitting that you don't see the shard surviving very much longer, if that's all you think will keep people playing.

Maybe if we try sending ourselves a simple message into the next causality loop we can avoid what happens to us that causes us to start again at the beginning. Yeah, I saw that Star Trek : TNG episode. Sup?

    P.S. I'm a nerd.

I really like the word "causality".

Anyway.. This preview of what is to come in IPY 2.5 doesn't really sound appealing to me.

    Oh well..
