    I dont see more housing coming about from this. If you are freely able to go back and forth with a click of an item, the housing and terrain will have to be the same on both sides. Otherwise you might click your item and end up under a house. This is a terribad idea...I have made the grind on enough characters, and wont do it again. Spending money twice just to have a character on both sides DOES NOT seem appealing to me.

    Yeah, but then you destroy the whole "fresh start" appeal that is supposed to bring people back. Can you imagine the ****storm if when IPY launched, all of the beta testers got 350 points to invest? People go nuts over that kind of stuff. And I mean what I'm talking about goes beyond just skill points. Imagine this scenario:

    Player 1: buying 20k boards on facet A!
    Player 2: selling 20k boards on facet B!
    Player 1: Damn, this is annoying.

    Stuff like that is going to happen all the time.

    Logistically I think they technically could have a few ways they could do this.

    a). They have two separate landmasses that are exact mirrors and basically they broadcast a ghost-hued version of each PlayerMobile to the opposite facet/landmass at the same coordinates. In this way, everything on each facet is completely unique.

    b) They actually have only one land mass, but attach a "Facet" code property to every Mobile (monster/npc), item, house, player in the gameworld, and depending on which Facet you're attached to, all items of the opposing Facet are either grey-hued or invisible and don't block line of sight. Essentially you would be double-stacking stuff all over the place, and you might be walking over invisible housing / items that are simply "ghosted" for your facet.
    I don't know how you'd manage free floating graphical effects (like monsters casting spells) in that scenario though.

    I'm curious if any of these will effect server processing speed since you will basically be doubling the amount of mobiles and likely adding a ton of more items to track in the world. Also the length of server saves and other stuff.

    Yeah, good point.

    And I HAVE thought of the dual economy... that will def be annoying. But, I still think a small price to play for the extra features we get to play. I like t2a and UOR pvp, it will be cool to do both.

    So far I have read almost every comment. I'm just wondering where people are coming up with having to change clients to the golden lands as appose back to the old lands? From the way I understood it from Az's discription is that you are staying on the same account. Going through a moongate on your 6x 7x w/e the character may be to the golden lands and immediately starting over but still in the same server just different rule set, which explains the being able to still see players from the old lands and communicate with. This also means the same houses will still be up maybe? Basically just bringing in a different population of players ( UO:R ) to the server to make the population bigger.
    Anyone commenting about having to change clients and alt tabbing to the golden lands provide me with your information source cause I am not seeing it.
    All in all I don't see this hurting the server cause your not losing anything your just gaining more diverse players who will eventually want to try out the old lands when there finished with there new land characters.
    Example: "Oh OCB on old lands is poppin right now...? Let me hop through the moongate and get suited up then and I will meet you guys there"
    "Shadow lords , True Brit and Minax are all attacking Council of Mages base right now..? Let me take 1-2 minutes to get ready and I will meet you there"

    Either way the positive and negative comments in this thread the positive are starting to out way the negative that started this thread. Also seeing more and more different names posting comments so already old and new players are buzzin bout the idea.

    If there is truly "no interaction" between the original shard and the Tr.. Golden Lands, then the whole talking point about bringing in more people is moot. You might see a bigger number of total players logged in at any time, but would be interacting with even less than before.

    Yeah, I mean I think everyone would agree it's a really cool idea in theory. I'd absolutely love to have a server where I could cycle through different eras of UO PvP depending on what I was feeling like and what's going on. But once again, that assumes a massive population that we no longer have.

    A consistent theme on IPY2 has been fantastic ideas that sound cool in theory, but always assume a large, actively involved population. That was the story with a lot of the staple launch features-- pirates and OCB would have been awesome if there was a large, active group of participants to fill those systems. We never got there because most people spent so much time grinding up there characters. This golden land thing is the same deal-- it sounds awesome if you assume we'll have the population to fill up two parallel facets. Right we don't, that's for damn sure.

    Everyone would have characters setup over there on accounts so they could log on all their pvp characters on both chars, thus creating changing accounts etc.



    This whole parellel ghost thing sounds like I'm going to enjoy a whole lot more screen lag / server lag on an engine that isn't built for this.

    My concern is that considering the features currently on IPY which need attention how will having two systems needing attention impact updates. And, related, will creating this second world push 2.5 even further down the road when we have a current system needing attention.
