My first IPY friends were actually met at the North Brit Smithy while training my mule. One of which I still consistently talk to. I too feel the interaction at the smithy was a strong part of old osi community. I think that a town Vendor Market would help with this sort of interaction.

I've always liked the idea of an invasion of a city. It makes for a great event. Though I would like to see more "epic" quests or events. Events that can ultimately change the game.

An undead event is fun, but it doesn't last, and there's no real threat. As an example, imagine Britain being invaded by orcs, ogres, ettins and trolls. Put in some kind of stipulation to where if certain requirements aren't met by the players, we lose Britain. No more NPC's there, at least until we take it back.

Doesn't have to be something that drastic. It was the first example that popped in my head as to how to make events more meaningful and epic.

The thing about shards, and really UO in general, is there is never any direction. "Here's Britannia, have fun. If we come up with a new idea, we'll make an expansion pack in a few years. Until then, bye." Don't get me wrong, it works, and is better than your average themepark MMO. However, devs can come up with some lore and fiction to implement into their game(or in this case shard) which shapes the past, present and future.

Hell, with a new website coming, you could include a newspaper of sorts to advertise, in RPer fashion, upcoming events.

A world wide shortage of reagents. Not permanent of course. But people would be required to go out and farm the reagents they need until NPC's are "resupplied." EDIT: Scratch this. But have some form of event to where, if the players are unsuccessful, there becomes a shortage of reagents.

A serial killer who is slowly starting to kill off important NPC's. I always wanted to see something like the murders of Ultima 7 implemented. "Britannia Butcher Strikes Again! Body of Skara Brae alchemist found in woods." This could be something for the detectives, giving them more meaning. If they don't catch this guy, NPC's slowly start to diminish.

Again, nothing has to be this severe, and these are some crappy ideas. Just simply stating some meaningful PvE events instead of "Zombies invade at noon EST!" could really help. Events that could really shape things, for the worse or better

This isn't true. Tilly favors purple people. It's a known fact.

Your Killer idea made me laugh and made me remember the first time I saw someone killing NPCS of course at the time I did not know a NPC from a real person. But I actually spied on this person names "A Wicked Witch" she/he was luring NPCs in Skara Brea out at the towns edge and killing them. I was shocked& astonished and for some reason it gave me butterflies lol I was one week new....ahh I was such a noob!I think that is kinda a cool idea Kyle!

Google "uoshards" and click some of the Top 100, top 200, etc. links ------ get IPY in there near the top. Put a link in your signature to vote for IPY

It's sad looking at those Top 200 sites, going to the top 3, and seeing that IPY has twice as many users than all 3 combined. Of course, how active they are compared to IPY remains to be seen.

    Kyle I love your ideas.

The here's Britannia have fun is actually why I don't play other mmos. I like to play a game where most interaction is between players and not with npcs and when i deal with npcs i do not want a list of responses that I have to choose from. The should not be the guiding force in a game.
On the other hand though because it is a role playing game even for non role players the lore and story behind the world should be laid out and presented in a role playing fashion, then executed with innovation and end game in mind for those who want to be a part of the community at large and not just run or be a part of player run events.
As you said there should be some larger and impactful events that allow the players to shape the evolution of the world as opposed to a static and never changing environment.
As a matter of fact Staff should think of themselves sometimes in the role of not only developers but as Game Masters in a more classical sense. Run an event with the players having to achieve victory then make sure we fail by the slightest margin and give us a chance to avenge or redeem that loss. Fudge a few dice rolls, make a few world changes and then let us regroup and bring things back to normal.
