I've only been playing about 2 months (I think my account age might be a little older, but my job takes me away for weeks at a time). I have not been overly active trying to GM most of my skills. My fisherman is about 6 weeks old, and the only skill I really worked was fishing. His stats maxed out where I wanted them after about 2 weeks of playing. After 6 weeks the only main skill below 90 is magic, and I'm sure if I macroed it I could get it higher in no time. I used the sea-saw method on my dexer and maxed out stats in a few days. I found that pure dexers on this shard are not worth the time compared to mages, so he's mothballed for now....but during the 2 weeks I was using him most skills reached the mid 80s with no problem.

My last shard took YEARS to GM a character....given the way stat and skill gain was handled it took constant maintenance to keep perfect skills with unbalanced stats. In comparison, character building on IPY is a cakewalk.

ATM its pretty irrelevant as skill gain is changing in the coming week or two. I assume stat gain will change also.

Jay is right that it will be irrelevent soon but if you know how to work the current skill system you can gm all skills in 21 days thats three weeks of work which to be honest isnt bad at all. Although resist will be a pain and probably take a little longer. But many of the others with creative skill scroll management can be shortened.

Stats gain at a max 20 points per day. Since you start with 80 divided you only need 145 more and that is just 7 days.

If you cannot find a good guide on these forums to raise your skills or stats take a lil less time complaining and a lil more time searching the forums. Or asking constructive how to questions.

They are getting rid of the RoT system which if you don't have a clear understanding of how it works don't feel bad many people who have been here for some time still don't get it completely.
The new system will be 100% skill gain with no daily limits. During your first hour signed in each day(which you will be able to check by using anatomy on yourself) will be 200% skill gains.
It is still unclear if the 2x skill gain hour will effect things like town bonuses, crafting square bonuses, or dungeon bonuses.
Depending on the rate of gain that is considered 100%(this question was also not yet answered that I'm aware of) this will be both a benefit or hinderance depending on your playstyle or amount of time stayed logged in.
The idea is to make skill gain faster and more consistent to macro - henceforth letting new players get caught up to vet players in a shorter amount of time. Many feel this is a good thing.
