MR: reflects the first spell that hits you. doesnt time out, it will remain active until broken.
RA: reduces melee damage by ??? and wears off after a certain amount of damage has been absorbed. OP spell, especially for a first circle spell.
Protection: increases your AR by 10 at gm magery i believe, im in the 90's and get +9 AR, another great spell for the fact that its fast to cast, costs little mana and has a relatively big effect.
MR isnt much of a big deal because anyone decent will magic arrow you to get rid of it before doing real damage.
MR can be casted on pets, useful against some of the stronger mobs like ancient wyrms etc. RA doesnt seem to do anything and i sometimes did arch protection but dunno if it even works on them.
