Use Pinnacle like WOW used Battlegrounds

I see an advantage of using Pinnacle like WoW used Battlegrounds.

From the brief 3 months that I played wow, people would lowball their characters at 19, 29, 39, etc. to compete against others.

I think that if you auto generated the events every hour or so, that this would be a good way to centralize pvp in a new way with low characters that wouldn't be used for anything else really.

    Thoughts?

And what is that WOW used Battlegrounds for players who have never been interesting into WOW?

You are talking about 'twinking' in wow. Create a lvl 19 and gear him out with BiS items with the most BA enchantment you could.

Sure, with pinnacle we could all create some 9x characters and it might be fun, or we could just finish our normal characters and play the game like it was made to be played.

Pinnacle was the single biggest waste of resources this shard has ever had. I don't think anyone has ever used it, it is as pointless as tits on a bull.

Wanna fix pinnacle? Make it for ANY character, and make it like CTF, or king of the hill, or something like that.. some sort of centralized pvp minigame.

As it stands right now, no one cares about pinnacle, and nobody ever will.

    Or make it have prizes.
    Nothing personal

Prizes and allow any char level in there, and yeah.

I think it would be fun to use a character with 9 skills. A tank mage with anat and healing would be fun to play with. But there simply won't ever be enough people in there under the current system.

i think that ctf, king of the hill, etc are good for established players.. but nobody plays with low level characters any more.

when a shard first opens, there is such a buzz because everyone is low in skills.. then after 3 months, meh.
this has resulted in everyone not gaming seriously until they grind their hearts out to 7x, then quit.
also, for new players, much like WoW, it doesn't feel as if you can have any fun until you are close to 7x.

this would be a fun random thing to do in UO, unlike any shard has ever done before and with the right incentives (prizes, etc) it could be great imo.

even if the prizes were just armour and weapons that could only be used in pinnacle

I stopped playing WoW around WotLK. IMO WoW got it right with BGs, Arenas and PVP rewards. The game was boring before BGs. WSG (Capture the flag) was a lot of fun and you mostly always had even numbers 10/10. Arathi basin was a 'hold the base' type game 15/15 where you got points the longer you held each of the 5 bases.
Twinking was extreme also, it's like all I did. but they nerfed it when they made winning a match grant experience so you couldn't stay forever.

I would not be apposed to CTF in UO or a 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 arena.
But that's not for everyone of coarse. I think we can take something that is successful in WoW and incorporate that into IPY. It's hard for people to get past the WoW stigma though.

I did pinnacle right after I started ipy. It was 3 or 4 teams of 3 in a capture the flag. It was kinda rough cause I dont think anyone but maybe a few people even knew it was capture the flag and the spike and poisen traps made moving around basically suicide for us as new characters. Basically if you ran from or chased anyone you probably ended up getting killed by stepping on 2 traps. It could be pretty fun if the traps were dialed down or removed.

Oh also I know this is UO not wow but taking one page from wow bgs for pinnacle would be a must: ressing after death with your gear and full health. Ressing as a new res in pinnacle and spending most of your time being res killed trying to reach and loot your corpse will cause nobody to ever do it. With the traps newbie characters just get killed by traps trying to reach their corpses after being killed.

Some sort of BG with 'gear retention' and full HP respawn would be insanely fun.
