honestly i don't really remember the the newer ones that much. been a while since i've seen them.
First three good, 2 was alright, 1 and 3 were ****e.
With 3 in particular, you already knew how it would end (if you saw 4,5 and 6), in a very boring way to me.
I just found 1 annoying. I'm not really a star wars fan though.
Episode 1 was terrible. I'll watch it occasionally, but I've turned into a big Star Wars nerd lately.
You're on crack about Episode 3 though. Just on crack. Sire. Respectfully.
Yes, 1, 2 and 3 were a big "... and then here's the history of THAT" exercise, and that's really stupid. But unless you're willing to consent to a five hour movie for each (which I AM), then they could be little else.

Well....... star wars nerd here... and to be honest i do not even consider episodes 1,2 and 3 as parts of the series as they are all nothing more then george lucas showing off CGI. Little known fact here, but the only one of the originals GL directed and (head) produced was A New Hope. And during its entire filming Ford, Fisher, (the guy who played obi wan), Mark and the rest of his crew constantly had to re-write Lucas' scripts and the actors refused to say lines because they were so bad, cheesey and lame. Many ppl consider episodes 5 and 6 to be the best of the series and much of that is due to the fact that outside of a basic outline and effects creativity, GL had little to do with the actual story. This is why we saw the blunders that were episodes 1,2 and 3. Because at this point Lucas had created an empire and (vs the early ones he was still young and being directed himself) no one wanted to say "hey George, you have no idea what youre doing and maybe you should let someone else do a little bit of creative writing", when it was well deserved. We also saw this with the new Indiana Jones.
Also, the original story was set to be a 12 part series, not 6. Episodes 4,5,6 were really supposed to be 7,8 and 9. 1,2,3 were supposed to be Anakin as a child/young teen and the beginning of the clone wars. 4,5 and 6 were going to be the end of the clone wars and Vader hunting and destroying the Jedi, and 10,11,12 was supposed to be Luke actually following his fathers path and Leia turning out to be the more powerful of the twins and killing luke (from what i remember/understand).
Anyway..
1: The Empire Strikes Back
2: Return of the Jedi
3: A New Hope
4: Revenge of the Sith
5: Attack of the Clones
The Phantom Menace is not actually a star wars movie. It was a prank that got out of hand and same goes with the Clone Wars cartoon series.
There have been rumors (confirmed live action film actually) of either a new tv series or possibly episodes 7, 8 and 9. Now from what i understand if they are doing sequels to the movies they will be based on the Legacy series. Which is not a bad idea. But Dark Empire was the best out of all the post-ROTJ stories and i would personally love to see that one made. But it would require all the original actors looking like they did 30 years ago, which is simply not going to happen. Where-as the Legacy series takes place 30 years or so after ROTJ.
Anyway, i could spend all day ranting about how badly Lucas ****ed up one of the greatest movie series of all time that created sequels/prequels of novels, comics, video games, ect. that were also written and produced by some fantastically creative and talented artists that did nothing but add greatness to an already great series.
Speak of the devil, i have actually been spending my days on UO, listening to the new Fate of the Jedi book series while i play. Its pretty good so far.

I'm not a fan of star wars at all. I can just say my favorite was probably A New Hope. I liked the pod-racing, and also when the Emperor reveal himself. My favorite part in all films was when I noticed that the guy who played Sherlock Holmes in my favorite version of Hound of the Baskervilles was the guy who says "you are far too trusting" to Princess Leia.
[To travel in silence by a long and circuitous route. To brave the arrows of misfortune and fear neither noose nor fire. To play the greatest of all games and win. Foregoing no expense is to mock the vicissitudes of Fate and gain at last the key that will unlock the Ninth Gate
