To create a potion and gain skills via the skill alchemy, you will need the following...
Minimum
- Mortar and Pestles (bought at any alchemist shop or made from the tinkering skill)
- Regs (Which ones depend on the potion you want to make... see table below)
- Bottles
Suggested
- Empty Kegs
The Basics
To make the potion simply have the required regs to make the potion (see chart below) and an empty bottle, double click the mortar & pestle and select the potion you wish to make. You will hear a grinding sound and then a pouring sound if successful and the potion will appear in your pack. To make the same potion again without having to select the potion you want each time hit "Make Last" found in the bottom right hand corner of the alchemy gump.
*Likely to change if the old gump is used*

GMing alchemy
There are a couple of ways to GM alchemy, but they basically all involve the same method... Grinding loads and loads of potions, the different ways just depend on which way you want to go about it. For example you if you have the money and you want to GM in a hurry method A will be the way to go. You can sell some of the kegs you make getting to GM back to the public, but overall it is more expensive. If you have less money but more time to burn, OR you plan on making a poisoner method B will be your better option because you will basically end up with kegs full of poison that you can then use GMing poisoning.
Method A - Fast, expensive.
0 - 32 - Buy skill from the Alchemist vendor
32 - 40 - Poison
40 - 52 Strength
64 - 75 Greater Strength
75 - 87 Greater Poison/Heal (Greater Poison will be almost half the price to make but you can sell Greater Heal, choice is yours)
87 - 94 Greater Cure
94 - GM Deadly Poison
Method B - More time consuming but a lot cheaper (and great if you have a poisoner)
0 - 32 Buy skill
32 - 60 Poison
60 - GM Greater Poison
It's not a bad idea if you switch to deadly poison if you have a little bit of cash towards the high 90s if you are making a poisoner, you will gain faster and end up with some DPs.
So a few last things for the newer players. The best way to do this is to buy empty kegs from other players. Stock your bag up with 100 bottles and as many regs as you can hold and grind up. When you run out of bottles dump the 100 filled potions into a keg then stash it away in the bank. When you finish GMing alchemy, come back and sell off any usefull kegs (Greater anything) or use the poison kegs to GM your poisoning character.
