View Full Version : Asheron's Call declare loyalty system in UO

I didn't play Asheron's Call very long but one thing that still fascinates me about the game was the heirarchy tree. You declare to someone, who declares to someone else who declares to someone else. A person who you declare to took care of you, they hooked you up with goodies or took you hunting to build you up and in return you supplied them with passive skill gain bonuses. They had to keep you happy or you could leave them.

When you became a big shot, you had followers or your own and by that, your master gained more. The big dog at the top was like a Baron, duke or king. His "kingdom" got larger or smaller by how many he had under him. There was always the ability to leave depending upon how many people you had under you or you could not declare loyalty to anyone. It was just a cool concept. I don't see exactly how that could work in UO but my imagination is a bit strained right now.
