It's safe to say that IPY2 has a pretty large following in the PVP community, but I'm curious - how many of you out there consider yourselves to be die-hard crafters?

I, for one, fully intend on making a name for myself as a legitimate crafter, and look forward to new conversations started around the Britain forge.

I can't PvP. I'm horrible at it. But I have fun crafting. I've decided that doing crafting as a "business" is too time consuming, so I'd probably do personal jobs for my friends who PvP. I have a lot going on and wont have much time to play UO like I did long ago. Bitter-sweet.

I'm torn between carpentry, alchemy, tailoring. I enjoy lumberjacking the most but I am worried by how many other carpenters there will be. I could enjoy tailoring as well but that could be a slow start hunting for leather. Alchemy never seemed profitable except for vendors so that will have to wait but I would like to try the new potions.

STOP! Craftin' TIME!

I'm pretty much in the same boat as others have stated.. Never was very good at PvP (It's not that I don't TRY.. I'm just terrible at it), so I tend to spend most of my time crafting and RP'ing.

Chances are my first toon will be something to the tune of

Magic
Eval Int
Mining
Smithing
Inscription
Alchemy
Tailoring

Good enough to do some casual mob farming for gold, but still have enough crafting skills to operate a decent one-stop shop.

My combat alt, though, I'm still deciding between a halbred mage or a poison-dexer.

Hey look, it's three quarters of the IPY2 economy, posting back to back. Are you guys going to have corporate wars around Britannia?

There is always gonna be money to make in the beginning of a server, using crafts.

A lot of people just want to get their Char done for PvP and get straight into being famous.
An early rush to get that Eval Int advantage or the 100 poisoning makes a difference early on.

I saw your thread on DF forum Tenebrion. I know you're well capable of setting something up too. I'm still considering which to start off with. Go for the PvP char early on or start the craft and get it out of the way, set up some kind of trading foundation and hopefully keep markets on lockdown... Either path will take up equal amount of time so its got to be one or the other.

I might do crafting type of **** this time around because you earn the money from it and can fund as many pvp chars as you want easily, later on.

The way I see it, if ROT is still in effect, it would be fairly easy to do both. I entirely intend on leveling a combat character alongside my (first) crafting character - though I'm still debating between a traditional hally mage, or taking a risk and going for a Dex monkey.

The thing I like about crafting in most sandbox MMOs is that it's less about what kind of skills you have, and more about what kind of reputation you have. The more effort you put into your business, and put into honing your image, the better you do in the long run - and that'll be where I'll be putting most of my effort.
