If you have to ask, then odds are good that those spots are taken when you get to that point ;)

Somewhere on the same screen as the britain GY, or the britain/yew moongate.

Anywhere that is high traffic. Britain GY, Anywhere around moongates and the path between a moongate and town. Vesper has some decent spots. I would be interested in hear your top spot. I would have to say Brit GY and Brit moongate as topy top.
People act like these spots are secret and dangers their chances somehow.

Depending on the server population and how many people cling to Minoc/Vesper area, I'd say at the end of either of the bridges by Vesper bank are very profitable spots.

It's all going to change from time to time due to King's banners, taxes, and citizenship benefits.
Safe bet would be by a moongate.

It really depends. It seems like every shard has its own different vendor hotspots and these change over time. I think the main thing that affects the spot is supply, and a consistent one at that. The individuals that make an effort to always stock seem to decide where this prime location will be. So... you could theoretically make THE place to be a successful merchant if you put the time into it. But hey, just my $0.02

What Lev said is pretty true, there will always be the usual hot spots but with enough effort by a guild or even an indevidual you can turn any spot into a hot spot. Make a big enough pvp guild and let it be well known where you hang out and people will come for action. Stock a good enough vendor mall or be the first complete rune library and put in the effort to advertise it and people will be there around the clock.

I'm pretty sure the rule-set and dynamic of this server will - by it's nature - defy the cool-kid'ism of house-placing in all of the usual places and make-way for more obscure placements.
Placing a house at Brit GY, for example, isn't going to mean **** if the action is all at bucs.

I've still always wanted a Brit GY house :)
