Is it true that players will be able to put vendors *in* towns? How does this work? Only inside specific shops? Not all willy nilly on the streets? I guess you'd have to be a citizen of that town.

I am not to sure. I thought it was in the buildings that are not used frequently, It might be nifty though to see some back ally vendors as well ;)

You'll have to be a citizen.

There will be specific vendor marketplace areas. Limited spaces.

These areas will be taxed by the King.

This sounds really cool as long as the spaces are, VERY limited
i don't really fancy the idea of walking through town seeing hundreds of vendors just standing stock still with bags full of ex weapons and stuff
are they going to be like, real npcs? or usual Vendor style?

Vendor style. It'll be very limited.

Hmmm
ok i can see that being pretty rad and also very convenient
i expect, i dunno, it'll be pretty costly? kind of a toss up between paying for a more convenient, safe place to shop, or a cheaper, more dangerous spot? or is it, cheaper place for a vendor if you can't afford your own house, but much more limited than a typical vendor?

Not only that, but vendors can set TWO prices for items - One for Citizens, and one for Non-Citizens (http://inporylem.com/forum/showthread.php?371-Vendors-and-Citizenship&p=8554#post8554).

I still dont love making it this safe for people to shop. But it's here, I've made my complaint and I wont push it any further :)

that doesn't even make sense though

i agree, shopping shouldn't have to be a dangerous thing, and it's not like thieves won't be all over.

It DOES make sense because some of the best pvp hot spots are vendor areas, and many a classic battle have taken place due to these vendors. I get where Jay is coming from, it's going to have to be quite limited imo. It'll be interesting to see how it all works out. The situation is fluid I'm sure, if it sucks it won't stick. It seems like a very intriguing idea to me however.

Shopping may not all be that dangerous to the customers however ongoing operation for the vendors will be a bit of a political process if the king has the ability to tax the vendors. Vendors in town and taxation from the King is really going to be a game changer when it comes to player economics. For the better if executed well.

I like to take my time and shop around so safe shopping sounds good to me even though it's limited. As long as you can't get everything you need in town but have to go out and risk your life to shop some items it sounds good to me.

safe shopping = seeing what you want on a mule char, then recalling in and out with the real one when you know what you want.
