So I am sitting in my chair, Doing what i usually do browsing 4ch.... IPY2!
When this kick ass idea hits me in the head like a wooden post.
Sign Posts!
Now don't underestimate the humble sign post.
Any MMO worth its salt has sign posts to help direct and inform the weary wanderer where the hell in fact he is!
Now here is the perfect example...
Our New kings system allows players to modify town guards and crap like that. But with all 10 9 or whatever many towns there are stupid people (or Orcs) will more than likely have trouble remembering what town is guarded and what town is not.
So simply put i think sign posts should be placed at the entrances of the guard zones on main roads of said towns to act as well... a sign post to inform travelers

Bad **** this way --->
(guards weren't paid this month)
Or The more Technical Aproach
*Sign*
Town: Brittan
Guards: No
Tax: High
King: King Butthurt
Ehh you get the idea...
Not to mention UO is a huge ass place, maby most of us have no problem getting around now after years of playing but think of the humble n00b and how he will fair in the elements if he dose not have Mr. Informative Sign helping him along on his travels...

Minnoc ---->
Hell you can even have some fun with signs like...
*sign*
Stay off the grass
*Next Sign *
No really stay off the grass
*Bam vine monsters pop out of the grass!*
Anyway signs have always been apart of the housing aspect of UO but now with the kings aspect i think we can expand the Sign play a little to help clarify the towns.
(Idea is to keep the information in game as apposed to having to jump out of the game onto the forums to check for a post about the current status of a town...)
And i don't see why we couldn't sprinkle some signs at crossroads and other key areas to help point people in the right direction an give those ****ing mongbats something to do.
Also i cant imagine it being terribly complicated to code in some signs and tie them into the town status. but what the hell do i know..
