As long as TL holds Minoc Kingship we will hold a 1v1 tournament with a ~10k+ prize pool every few weeks (first one soon enough). However, you must be a member of the Minoc Militia to participate.

I think I do know hector and likwed pretty good, if they'Re not the same? No clue really. The biggest party I ever met was a party of 4 [c2w] :)

What I know is that they play pretty much according to their guildname (cheatz to win?) using the lamest of lame ****,
those poeple are the only pro UO player I met so far refusing to duell and not caring about any ruleset.
I see them precast healing - 1n1 - use of deadly poisoned weapons. I think if they wouldn't be poor and lazy they'd run around with vanq weapons only.

Pretty much. I have a large tower blocked off in britain, and some incredibly rare and valuable pre-patch items. So ill log in here and there to keep from idoc'ing. Perhaps wheel and deal a bit. Eventually ill sell the uber rares and buy a large tower. Decorate it. But ya, im not really going to play anymore.

Az, i love you man, but you're being an sob with the lottery items. Especially the way you are doing it. So, im going to go against my better judgement and tell you how you can continue to do what you are doing without totally ****ing up your economy. (but really, you should just stop). You say that because ppl are merely transferring gold between eachother nothing is awry. But you are mistaken. The issue Az lies in "REAL VALUE". People are idiots and generally cannot differentiate between monetary units and real value. But the truth of the matter is monetary units is irrelevant, real value is what matters. Im telling you right now, the way things are currently set up, your donation rares (lottery items) have little to no real value. Much like the american dollar its all perception based. Illusionary. But you can only sustain that illusion for so long (or you can get away with it for a long time by doing what i am about to advise). Plus, it does indeed hurt the economy.

Now take my word for it, donation items as its set up have very little if any real value. I will prove this if i have to, but i dont wanna write an essay so take my word for it. Now Az, what you are doing would be similar to the government allowing the trade of goods to be done with monetary units of no real value also. Its the philosophy of competing currencies. It would be like the government legalizing monopoly money as legal tender. Now, what will this do to the dollar? What will it do to the people who are selling goods for monopoly money? What will it do to those who stockpile this monopoly money? When **** hits the fan (which it will if you stay the course) people will realize that the monopoly money is worthless, and an economic breakdown will ensue.

But you can avoid it for many years if you play it smart. Trust me dude, you need to do this or you will **** up your economy. First off, the the percentages seem fine, but you need to lessen the amount of time these rares are available. Or you need to make them 1 shot deals. Make certain lottery items available for 1-2 weeks at a time, then not again for a year, or you need to keep them in shop for 2-3 months and then end it. NEVER put them back in.

(Ps im talking about rares acquired through donation lottery)

This will sustain the illusion of value perpetuated by perceptions and keep the economy relatively unharmed. For a while. I suspect that if you do in fact do one of the two previously mentioned options (1-2 weeks per item set then not again for over a year, or 2-3 months then never again), your donation items wont start causing significant damage to the economy for around 4-5 years. ITs possible that if you do the latter of the 2 (one time deal /w few months availability) its possible that there will never be an effect. But, if you continue course, what you do to your economy would be the same as the government legalizing monopoly money as legal tender. You cant have excessive transference of goods with real value with monetary units (donation items) of no real value and expect no long term consequences. When inflation gets high, trust me, those donation items will break the back of your economy.

Considering Az's stated attitude regarding donations, I think most people have decided against investing in the items because it's been made pretty clear that the in-game economy will always be his primary concern. In other words, I don't think Az intends donation shop items to have gold-value. If they start to have too much in-game value, I suspect he will probably do something to make them less valuable. Everyone refers to the Fed Reserve as printing money but they are just added numbers in their computer system, in a reserve, which then flows to banks, and then is supposed to flow to you. Instead of being flowed to you in the form of loans though, these banks buy a bunch of risky **** like oil futures and stocks but a lot of it also goes to treasury bonds/bills, safer assets as well.

The term can be used interchangably though almost, the Fed is not ACTUALLY printing money, another govt entity does that, but when we say Fed is printing money we just mean increasing the money supply.

Unlike many others, I believe Keynesian economics isn't completely a sham, some thing it is. The first and original currency in this world was LABOR. And the dollar is still linked to the currency of LABOR, thus being more like a unit of labor instead of having a conversion value to gold. But this last paragraph is just my own thought so I could be wrong (as could all other economics).

In a game where there are an unlimited supply of just about everything, its probably not best to try and apply real world theories and definitions. People are bringing up the most ridiculous examples trying to sound like they know ****. Last time I checked there is no central bank, there are no bank loans, no bonds, no interest rates. Inflation is always going to happen in a game that can't directly control the amount of cash that is available. People will stop pouring thru resources to macro chars and then gold will begin to pile up. Gold sinks only work if people buy them. Trees regrow, rocks reform, fish replenish, shops never run out of goods (only temporarily), gold availible is unlimited. I think you all need to read the essay some dude wrote years ago about video game economies that was centered around Ultima Online.
