Wanting to Make a Detective.

But whats a good Template? and what should the starting Stats/Skills be to make it a little easier?

And last question, how old does a char have to be before joining the Detective's Guild?

Forensic Evaluation and Detecting Hidden are the "detective skills". You only need the former, so far. Detecting Hidden is fairly useless but since I suspect that the staff is going to do something about that soon enough.

Beyond that, do what you want really.

Personally I don't like to play multiple characters, so my detective is also my PvE character. It's a detective first though:

Forensic Evaluation
Detecting Hidden
Hiding (I like to lurk and stake out locations some murderous individuals are known to frequent.)
Magery
Meditation
Evaluating Intelligence
Resisting Spells

I went with 30str 10dex 40int.

The magicstuffs related skills are around 70-80(real) now and if a murderer happens to be returning to the crime scene I manage to defend myself usually. Forensic Evaluation and DH are at ~75 as well.

It's been a blast so far. If you're more of a powergamer with 3 chars that make you self-sufficient, as most are on this shard (which is cool), you might not want to have a jack of all (well, two) trades like this though, in which case very little of this applies to you, really. :D

EDIT: Oh, and is there a character age for joining the detective's guild? like how there is for the thief's guild?

Bummer. I worked to get my new char above 60 Forensic, Hate that I have to wait a week now!!!

48 hours old ingame. Just macro him for 2 days and you should be able to join. Bring 500g with you also.

I've been thinking about rolling a detective build for fun. This is what I'm thinking :

100str/25int/100dex
Forensics Eval
Detect Hidden
Macing
Archery
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing

It's not exactly an optimal build, but I think it might be a fun thief-killer.

For the record, I have more than 48hrs in game, and my char is 5 days old, still says he's "too young to join"

I'm guessing it has to be a week old char.

I believe the char must be 7 days old and have 40-48 hours in game time logged. I don't remember where I read it but I will try to find the info for you.

Edit: I can't seem to find a link to confirm that. Maybe I saw it in game when I attempted to join with my Detective and was rejected. Maybe someone else can confirm?

When I try I don't get any guidelines, just "You are too young to join my guild..." or whatever it is exactly.

EDIT: Is there anyway to see how many Hours your character currently has in game?

Thank you for that heads up as well.

Anyone know what the plan is for Detectives in regards to thieves in the future?

EDIT: Maybe a stupid question but is the Clue Book Blessed?

Yes its blessed.

Thieves will be able to intervene against thieves some time in the future, at least according to the developers.

Nothing has been released to detail what that system might look like.

what's the point of being a detective ? you can track murders ? but what else ?
