Bud, Coors....... its all the same. Low on alcohol percentage and low on taste. Canadian/German/Aussie beer is the way to go.

Chicago the Goose Islands.

Fully aware of this. It's only if I'm low on money and in dire need of chugging a beer that I'll drink a gold label Coors. I don't drink light beer. Eff a light beer.
Oh! Newcastle is another standby, but it's only if I happen to find it on tap somewhere.

I have only had beer down the west coast (wash, or, cali)...... and only on one occasion did i drink home brews. I guess its possible that not all american beer sucks....... though i still say in comparison to canada/germany/kangarooland, i doubt american beer compares.

I haven't checked out WA, but it is a hotbed for growing hops so I'm sure you can probably find some great brews around there
The only Australian beer I know of... "Fosters.. Australian for Beer"
You simply can't say they don't compare. Modern communication/transportation has made beer recipes transcend borders. If you're talking strictly about "origins" I guess Germany/Belgium win, but it is far in the past that the types of beer you'd find there you'll only find there.

Not quite, Bro.
ANYWAY, my tastes have changed over the years from Red Stripe, to Newcastle, to Dos XX (which I still enjoy with lime, a salted bottle, and a shot of tequila), to settling into Shiner. I am fortunate enough to live in a place that even the grocery stores stock great imported beers, and the bars have hundreds on tap, so I'm in a constant state of trying new ones. I just have the handful I know will always do me right.

I don't even know anywhere in Australia where you can buy Fosters, it hasn't been owned by Australians for a very, very long time... The only time I've tried it was when I was on a cruise outside of Australia... It was terrible.
I havn't tried any Canadian beers that I know of, but my mate just came back from living in Canada for almost two years and he said they were great...
Most the beers I drink are German or Australian... German if I want a full tasting beer, Australian if I want a refreshing beer, but either way they are always full strength and pack a good punch. Australian's dont take kindly to light beer.

I'm not really sure where they are brewed, it could be the same case here... But are Coors brewed in the U.S and Molson brewed in Canada? Cos if they are then it's not the same as saying Forsters isn't Australian, because it's hasn't been owned by, or brewed by Australians in a long time, and it's not even the same beer it was when it was brewed here, just has the label.

There is only one true beer, and that beer is bud light. Any real power drinker will agree.
If I am down to counting coins then maybe:

But If I was that broke and had to buy one of those three, I would probably just end up buying a pint of vodka for the same price.

The beers here are just made for the heat in Australia really, they arn't as thick as German beers (and from what my friend says Canadian beers) They are brewed to go down well and be refreshing as hell, and are served colder than anywhere else in the world... I love German beers but come summer time especially it's all about Australian.

That's the point, it is less filling. A mans beer. You can drink them endlessly and mix them in between shots. Not gonna be able to put back a 30 pack of Guinness or drink down Guinness while putting down pints of hard alcohol. Bud light on the other hand, very thin and not filling. Perfect for mixing with hard alcohol and you can drink a 30 pack and you will only have to piss every 20 minutes, not vomit.

Weak. There are plenty of full strength beers that dont fill you up, when I say a full strength beer vs a light I'm not talking freaking dark thick Guinness that's just stupid. Most Australian full strength beers I can drink pretty endlessly... The one and only purpose for a light beer EVER is to stay under the legal BAC so I can drive... Or rehydrate someone in an emergency.

I'd have to say that although Shiner is one of my ol' ladies' favorites, it ain't mine. My all time beer for special occasions in particular is Left Hand, if you havn't heard of it, give it a shot. It is quite pricy (aka: 50 bucks for a case) but well worth it! I drink Bud regularly, but I certainly wouldn't consider it anywhere near a quality top beer, I drink it because I drink a lot...and it's cheap lol (Pibbers when i'm broke!). And well, I live in Colorado so I would be shunned if I didn't have a Coors now and again. As for liquor, gotta be Jack sour or Wild Turkey, or a decent wine, preferrably a Chardonnay.

I've actually just started doing this most the time when I'm out... It really is the best way to avoid a hangover... I get a LOT of bad hangovers too and since I've started doing this they have become way less frequent. As a resident of Delaware I'm just going to have to officially represent Dogfish Head and everything they do as being the best.
Oh, and the Rogue Ales are pretty great too.

**** beer - it tastes like piss.
'well you must know what piss tastes like then hummm???"
ya, when i was 16 my 5 friends including myself pissed in a big gulp cup and it was my job to throw it at these kids, my hand hit the door frame instead of making it out the window and the cup exploded on all of us inside the car and i was laughing so hard that all of the pee was running down my face and into my mouth - so what.
so yes, it tastes like piss.
i wish i could like it (ive tried) as there are so many beers available, but it tastes like piss.
Karma at its best. Thank you Universe.

Out of curiousity. If beer is an aquired and enjoyable taste, then, is alcohol, which does stimulate a strong taste as well, play large into the refreshment of a brewski? I just thought back to my days as a grocery store clerk. I recall ringing up a 6-pack for an elderly man and it didn't register an id check. So when I look confused the old guy says it was because it's not alcoholic beer.
So, would you beer people enjoy the tastes of specialty beers if they didn't contain any alcohol? You could drink your favorite brewski while you drive even. Is it acceptable and enjoyable without the alcohol? Perhaps you guys could give one a try. I bet you never considered it before.
I am also aware that beer is part of our culture.

Epsilon, I would have to say most probably would. It's not like every time one drinks the goal is to get drunk.
I'd personally probably do it a lot less because I certainly do enjoy the side effects of alchohol and without them why the **** am I going to waste drinking 1000 calories on beer when I can drink some water and eat some ****in' burgers or pizza?

Blue Moon is a Coors product. What do you really expect?
(it's not terrible, but not one I ever drink)
Yea once I read that I learned I can no longer drink it. They donate big bucks to the bad guys.

They only distribute in Missouri and pretty much the boarding states, but seriously they bottle some of the best beer I've ever have. The make the best unfiltered wheat and the best stout which is all that really matters to me, but their pale ale and lunar ale are both stellar too.
I'm gonna drink a million tonight too.

Fully aware of this. It's only if I'm low on money and in dire need of chugging a beer that I'll drink a gold label Coors. I don't drink light beer. Eff a light beer.
Oh! Newcastle is another standby, but it's only if I happen to find it on tap somewhere.
I'd be really interested to know what you guys consider to be noteworthy, Aussie beer. Examples from top of my head : (VB / Fosters / Tooheys New / Old / Dry / XXXX / Reschs / Melbourne Bitter / James Squire / Carlton Cold, Crown Lager).

Why did you mention Fosters? It's the worst example of an Australian beer you could mention, mainly because uhh well whens the last time you saw Fosters in Australia? It's not an Australian beer anymore.
