I just watched The Exorcist for my first time last night. Wow, what a great film! I love horror movies and it's hard to find ones that are well done. This is a great film even though it's from 1973. I tell you.... when that crazy chic came down the stairs walking upside down with that jacked up look on her face? Tingles shot up my spine man... RARELY do I get any reaction from a horror flick... especially when it's just playing on my little bedroom TV. There were a couple of moments like that in the film.

After watching this I can see so clearly where other film writers got their inspiration ... or just out right copied it =P

Highly recommend this top shelf horror film!

I never watched this film because I hardly watch the horror genre. I may give it a try really soon as I've been watching a few horror films lately. I just saw Hellraiser last night and it was okay. My usual fav type of horror films are not graphic and actually show very little blood. I prefer the alien horror genre or internal struggles(man vs self), but the demonic genre is more frightening I think.
If it's on netflix streaming, then I will try and watch The Exorcist.

While it has some gross scenes.... that certainly does not define why it's a horror film. I'm with you really; one of my favorite films is Alien... it's not an action / sci-fi movie... it's a really good horror / suspense film. The gross, graphic, scenes are actually quite limited.
