The guild stone has been up for just over a month now. We had a hell of a first week with new recruits coming to the fort every day, then the holidays came and suddenly there was no activity. I'll be the first to admit I've been a bit slack myself, I've checked in on my orc every now and then but haven't been able to find the motivation to play solo.
However, I'm still hoping we can get back on the right track. Holidays are over, I know some of you guys are still playing, just not your orcs. Try to get on IRC and join us (Well, it used to be us, lately it's just me) in #ork. PM me for instructions if you need them, but basically you can just hit "Live chat" up top here and then type /j #ork to get into our channel, and then /nick <yourname> (Or you can download the mirc client) It's an easy to use, low bandwidth way to communicate. I'm always in irc when I play and usually even if I'm AFK. I've been playing my humies a lot lately, and I understand ppl want to do that, but if you're in irc at least we can try to make things happen.
I have promoted Urg'Luug so far, there's another few runts I'd like to promote soon. Those of you who are gonna keep playing your orcs, please send me a PM here so we can try to organize to get you promoted soonish. Once we have a few grunts we can have a bunch of fights to determine hierarchy and so on. I wanna see some more red boots running around!
I had lots of fun when we had a few orcs on, it was really fresh, it reminded me of orcing on OSI, and I think a lot of people had similar experiences. So let's get back on our orcs every now and then and go kill, kidnap and torture some stinkin Yews and humies and gather some tribute!
I know some people are turned off by not being able to macro and the fact that Yew come in huge numbers with macroed characters and wipe us out. If it's something lots of you guys feel would make it easier for you to play your orc maybe we could make some amendments to macroing rules (I'm thinking allow further macroing for grunts for example, specifics can be worked out)
But for now let's just start playing a bit more! If there's people playing, more people will play. If no one plays, no one will tend to.
If grunts, or even runts, feel it is becoming time to promote a certain runt, then let myself or Xutag know. Grunts need to know their way around the fort, be pretty comfortable with their blah, have contributed a certain amounts of tribute and resources, have 100 str, and have lead at least one raid with a few other runts.
These are the standing orders for runts:
- Protect the fort! Any humies who come within a few screens of the fort should pay tribute.
- Kill shardies and other mobs near the fort. Good for skills, blezzingz and shinies. Collect all the tools and stackables you get from them too.
- Mine! Lumberjack! Kill birds for feathers, animals for leather! We encourage you to issue shovels to other runts and take them on mining runs, maybe even to shame. Go on scouting raids - and gather wool. Head into Yew territory, be stealthy about it, and steal that precious wool for the clan!
- Things should be smelted to ingots, like worn down armor/weapons and stuff from shardies. Wool turned to ragz. They should be put in the bag in the bottom chest. You will find tools for mining and smelting in the clan chest. Orcs with some mining skill should always smelt the stuff they find in the bag.
- Klomp the healers at the rok fort. Gather the potions for yourself, and the sandals go in the shiniez pouch. Especially dark cloth is valuable to the humies, but don't worry about it too much.
- Always practice battle tactics! Cross heal and krimp!
- Patrol the territory between the fort and our watchtower.
(For the record, all cash and resources we manage to save up will be put back into the clan. We want to expand and keep ourselves stocked with the things we need. I've bought us a small tower near Yew Xroads for example)
Clan Chests (It seems someone has been tempted to take off with some of the clan resources for their own profit. We are missing kegs and we lost a few thousand arrows, some bolts (no one is using xbow yet ) and probably some other things. So we're gonna keep basic supplies in the rok hut chests and only grunts will have access to the watch tower chests)
Top chest:
At the top left you will see two pouches. One for armor, one for orc helms.
Bottom left you will see a bag - that is for mining and smithy tools, ie, use the tongs to smelt the stuff you get from shardies.
Other random stuff can go in this chest, drinks, food, mortars, but don't fill it up with thigh boots and normal ringie.
Bottom chest:
There are kegs at the top left. Some of those are kegs on top of other kegs, so if one is empty, see if there is a full one under it.
Top right, bottles, arrows, ragz, and a pouch for weapons. Please do not store regular weapons in this pouch. If we are running out of fresh weapons, let me know and I will acquire some exceptional items for us.
In the bottom left there is a bag and a pouch. The bag is for items to be resmelted. The pouch is for ALL resources. Raw foods, wool, cloth, leather, ingots, ore, shafts, etc etc.
In the bottom right is the shiniez pouch. All shiniez go in there, gems, gold, sandals, magic items we can't use.
[I think someone reorganized this just after I wrote this up]
We are currently RoE with:
Yew
IRP
The Fox & Hollow
Free folk of Vesper
The RoE for now is:
If you die to the hands of another RPer, you wear a death robe for up to 10 minutes, or all OJs are out of sight, whichever comes first.
We only loot weapons, magic items, and stackables. - there is no dry looting, and ORK don't take anything the clan doesn't need (ie plate, longswords, etc).Remember, these people will get many chances to loot you, so don't be greedy. Always try to res if we can.
Don't fight without interaction first, unless it is specifically to ambush someone
And apply common sense. We don't want to grief people.
