The shop that will eventually be set up, should have Plush dolls of our characters to be made. Or a t-shirt with our character on it! "I'm an IPY, why aren't you?"
I will dress my faceless little guy with armor or cloth robes to match what he wears in game. His little hat just the right shade of purple, and I will hug him nightly as he protects me from the night pk's who try to steal my soul for candy that they get on the black market ooooohh how it makes me just rattle on useless words to keep you reading in hopes I might say something cool, but you will be mislead because I am not that kind of person I am one who just does this to make people mad at the end because they thought I was going to have a happy ending but i won't i ran over a puppy with my horse in uo once, but didn't tell anyone even though my horse somehow yelled "guards" but they didn't come because puppys have no pixel souls to tattle on me. I even punched an orphan and made him cry but it didn't matter to me because he had no parents to tell on me too. whahahahaha
But I think a plush uo character would be neat to have with cloth made items to decorate them. Just my 5 cents.

Sell normal black t-shirts with the words [blessed] on the front.
They'd go like hot cakes.

I have no idea if you're joking or not, but that's a hilarious and awesome idea.
Unfortunately I think we'd sell about 5.

Regardless how many you sell it'd be funny to see IRL and you wouldn't have to do any actual work beyond an hour goofing around on Cafepress.
But yeah, what exactly IS the shop for? Care to shine a light on that for those who happen to be eager to drop CASH?

I hate that the joke would be lost on 99% of people who saw said shirt. However it would be completely worth it for the one person who saw it, laughed and high-fived you.

Well, I hate Cafepress. I feel like I'm selling things to you for them. Their base prices are absolutely ridiculous.
Ideally I was hoping to print some nice shirts out locally and be able to sell them at a price that's actually reasonable for a t-shirt.
To do that though, I could only print things that I could get rid of. In fact, I could only do it if I was sure they'd sell off in the first place. I don't want to get stuck with three hundred black [blessed] shirts.
Unfortunately that leaves Cafepress (and wildly overpaying for shirts) the only option.
Our "Donation Store" will be decoration items. Stuff for your houses, maybe some neat pets for the girlfriend, etc. I won't monkey with the balance of the world so I can make a profit. I think decoration items will cover our costs.

Dude if nobody wanted 300 blessed blacks IRL, I'd drop some loot on em. Then I'd post RL jpgs of all the shirts and mention how I won them all at RL duel tournaments. Then nobody would ever flex on me at all in a game or IRL!
I dunno man, there are obviously other net stores to consider besides Cafepress, was just an idea. Were you complaining that you'd not make a worthwhile profit from Cafepress, or that you just wouldn't like seeing buyers get ripped for paying such high prices? Either way, meh.
In game deco for cash YALL HEAR THAT???!!! Alert the presses!
PS - Cover costs, ROFL you better pray everybody buys 80 polar bear rugs or whatever!!! "I covered costs and all I got was this lousy t-shirt!"

Well, it might not cover costs. I have no idea right now. We'll have to see, but if it doesn't... I'll have to eat the remainder, I suppose.
As far as Cafepress - both.

If it were possible to donate for house placement, even if it cost a few hundred, and was somehow limited (make sure not too many people did it) I'd donate on server up.
It wouldn't mess with balance, it'd be expensive enough that it wouldn't be overused, & you'd make your server costs fairly quickly for those that are interested.
I see it being a horrible idea to anyone who doesn't have money though, but I guess that's the last reason they'd actually give.

This is true. The only part of UO I don't like is the cash-grab for placements on server up. I don't have the time or energy to do that. Happy with going out and killing shit and it taking a year to get 7xgm. Love it. But in terms of the cash-grab for placements, no chance. I think that's the kind of people that would be keen. Work long hours, no chance of getting enough money for a house in under 2 years etc.

Yeah, but there are a lot of people that LOVE that land rush.
Is their enjoyment worth thousands of dollars to me?
Unfortunately, yes. Or else I shouldn't be doing this.

I don't even mildly disagree. I'm just having a sook because, while I think it's fair that people that don't work etc can skill up faster, It does annoy me they can also take all of the land.
Anyway Az, if I told you a house was worth a grand to me, and it'd be worth that much because of how much time I planned to invest in the game - without falling short to people that live with their parents etc, would it really be cheating?

The In Por Yelm image on the home page is pretty cool. I'd buy that on a t-shirt. It's not copied from anything, is it?

A small house in the middle of nowhere?
Deal. ;)
But seriously, I'd love to but I can't.
Will I kick myself for every dollar I pass up once (more) people start driving me absolutely corn-cob-pipe-smokin', rubber-boot-dancin' insane?
Yes, I will.
But IPY is what it is, all the way on up.
You can't buy a house on the side from me, sorry. ;)

I was thinking on the idea of a T-Shirt yesterday. I wouldn't buy a fuckton, but you could easily count me in for a single 15-20$ Tee. That said, I realize its probably not even worth it to go out and print them... but I mean.. hey... if some of us came up with an idea and we could get it to the guy with the access to a print shop..? I'd grab one :)

One thing I will say is that most of us who played in 98-00 now have jobs that allow us a little pocket change to use for things we enjoy. If I were able to see that the server needed money to cover costs for the month, so i could continue on with my "hobby" I would be more than happy to kick some money in. If I decide to play on this shard I will have a vested interest in keeping you, Az, motivated and compensated. Please dont sell that short.
