(T:LDR = Don't read it )
It's been a while since I posted anything substantially contributive to these forums. Some of the guys from Oct last year (when I signed up) might remember my often posts that were positive, contributive and meaningful. Twice a week I'd post something in general that would garner 20 odd pages of great feedback, support & objective or supportive criticism. Threads related to the game, direction, ideas, general outlook & community.
Unfortunately, as the sands pass through the hour glass, time becomes a restraint (for us all) and patience wears thin. You see an organic idea, a progressive player-base and a supportive community slowly get crushed (not this one, I'm just being preemptive) by the vacuous, repetitive bandwagon of nay-sayers and (queue irony) whiners. In order to post this, again, I do realise the irony, but I've nothing bad to say about the shard. Quite the opposite in fact. This is about the people, myself included.
Some of the new people reading this post mightn't even of known I was capable of saying anything beyond "Who cares" and "That's great, thanks for sharing - go away"; fashion of posts. It's come to that, for me, because I'm not a patient guy. I administrate a forum with over 20k members (based in the states, no less) and have troubles dealing with you bloody yanks enough as it is ;) I get cranky because idiots ruin my high. I know I have a bunch of guys that message me from time to time saying "Glad you said it mate, it needed to be said" - but that doesn't change anything.
Indeed, I've become somewhat of a horrible troll to people that have signed up with next to no posts for the sheer purpose of complaining about this shard, people that have no real vested interest, opinion or wide-angle view of the bigger picture. People that would rather post self-motivated rants about how the system doesn't suit them, how things are going to be grindy, and how they should be able to log in with a double-barrel shotgun and proceed to blast any enjoyment out of what is going to be a dyanic experiance away, with their instant gratification complex's and their visions of how things should be, vis-a-vis how much effort they could be bothered putting in; people that haven't even been in beta. Seriously.
Nobody deserves to play here. There is no entitlement to be here. None of your opinions or my own deserve priority, re-hashing or loudening over others. We can think otherwise, but it doesn't make it so. We're all here because someone has nominated their time and effort to put something together that none of us could reasonably convinced Az to make happen otherwise. This means none of you initially made this shard happen, hence none of you have the right or place to go posting a thousand threads of scattered crap about your overflow of bile related to a game that is going to be and has been, as I've personally had the privilege of experiencing for quite a few months now, amazing. This, for the mentally challenged, obviously has nothing to do with normal, contributive / subjective posts.
Moderation is the only way this forum isn't going to end up with pathetic rants as long as mine now, related to the "state of the game" - threads as a product only of that one persons subjective take on the game-world, that ends up engulfing everything else that's positive like a giant, soul-sapping vagina. It's been said before and I'll say it again, most of the people that are content with what's current, count for the majority of people that don't actually post here anymore, or at all. This is because they are / were happy already. The catch 22 is that this creates an illusion that the people posting, new or otherwise, that aren't happy with X or Y features, end up posting about it and hence changes are made because it seems to be the community concern, but in reality it's just a new wave of people whining and having what everyone else wanted prior, changed. And so on and so forward.
What I'd ask of the people that support what I'm going to call for the "Original concept" is to be more vocal about their support, and to post in threads created by whiners that take issue to something we do not. To not be so passive and leave me to troll the crap out of people because they don't even bother spelling properly, yet alone raising tangible, non-bias "concerns" for the shard. I don't want these forums over-run with empty-twats complaining about something we all enjoy, and getting away with it unchallenged.
If you're for a feature that is already here, stick to your guns. If you're not happy with a change that was made that you think may have been because you didn't say enough in opposition, you probably didn't.
The only way this shard is not going to become enjoyable for anybody is if people stand idle and do nothing, either for or against; anything related.
Administration has made it clear to voice reasonable concerns, administration has made it clear to suggest ideas. It's important to remember that these componants must be something that is feasible for everyone. Not just you.
So let's put our heads together, weed out the lead-weights, and reclaim what is slowly becoming a crap-fight.
I'll do my part the same.
