What if we made these spells actually cool to use?

What if Mana Drain saps all of the mana out of a target for like 3 seconds and after that 3 seconds then the mana all comes right back? It could cost like 20 mana and work about 50% of the time against GM resist. It would cast as fast as ebolt.

What if Mana Vampire only cost like 6 mana to cast but against GM resist has about a 60% chance to Sap 10 mana out of the target? It would cast as fast as Poison and you could not cast it if your mana is full.

These are just off the cuff numbers that could be tweaked with, but something to this effect?

These 2 spells have always been broken and have never had much of a use.

Much like my post, I feel that my signature is more appropriate for the medium than yours.

Glad you like the ideas though.

I've crusaded for actual Mana Drain and Vampire mechanics for over 4 months now.

Fight the good fight!

If you ever played WOW, the priests had mana drain. Priest vs priest duels were always just a mana drain spamming fight. The one who drained the others' mana first won... No one wants that.

Maybe these spells could operate on a long timer (10 minutes?) in addition to your suggestion. Then it would be an interesting addition. Especially in group pvp. Everyone mana drain the cross healer then dump on his buddy.

What if mana vampire reduced your target's magic resist by 1/3 and mana drain cured the effect of mana vampire?

i like the intention, but anything that messes with pvp mechanics makes me nervous.

wouldn't be a big deal if they maybe drained more in pve i guess, but for pvp? mana is already an important bar to manage, and messing with that makes for some pretty fundamental changes to pvp.

Would't that be Resist Vampire then? Doesn't make sense..
