Do not steal within your own city or you will be cast out and have no home.
Do not steal from your ally's city lest you tarnish the good name of your home.
Do not take what you do not need. Do not take out of cruel spite. This will create hatred for the Guild and make all thieve's lives more difficult.
Do not overstay your welcome. Case your targets, take what you can find, and move on lest the wolves become suspicious.
Be a teacher to the unsuspecting. Find them deep in the earth or far out in the wild and instruct them on the dangers of an insecure purse.
Do not wield your knife in anger. Run until you cannot run any more, then hide. Only when there is no where to run and no where to hide should you draw your knife and seek blood.
Aid your city in it's wars, as a scout, as a spy, as a sapper. This will earn you the good will of your fellow citizens and protect your home from the ravages of war.
Do not steal from the weak and the poor. One who cannot defend their goods from a thief will never make a fortune. A thief must grow a crop of wealthy marks if he wishes to become rich himself.
Defend the weak when you can. A thief can send a killer fleeing for fear of the loss of some precious weapon or trinket. Even the mightiest of Paladins fears the thiefs acquisitive fingers. Use this fear against those who would destroy the weak and the poor and with them the prospect of later wealth.
