Server Wars kicks off today at 2pm EST – 2 hours from the time of this posting.

We hope you and your friends come out to participate in what promises to be a fun, chaotic, PvP-filled afternoon on IPY 2!

A little more information in case you’re kind of confused…

Q: What is server wars?

Traditionally, server wars was a time when the original UO servers stopped saving prior to maintenance. Folks would come out with their best gear to PvP and PK without the threat of their misadventures permanently saving.

On IPY 2, it’ll be much the same thing – except we encourage EVERYONE to log in and participate. See our PLAY page to join in. It’s easy, because everyone can instantly set their character skills to the maximum in any configuration they’d like for the event.

Q: How do I participate?

Click on the PLAY link at the top of the page, or the “Enter Britannia” button in the middle of the page for simple 3-step instructions for getting the free game client and logging on for the first time.

Server Wars begins TODAY at 2pm EST.

Q: What are the commands?

To set your character skills, simply type these sorts of commands in game:

• set str 100
• set int 100
• set dex 100
• set blacksmithing 100
• set swords 100
• set magery 100
• set tactics 100
• set poisoning 100
• set magicresist 100

… and so on!

As always, there is a skill cap of 700.0 points, and a stat cap of 225 points.

Q: What do I get equipment?

Check your bank box! It’ll be filled with stuff!

We’ll also be spawning lots of exceptionally crafted equipment (made by Az or Tilly, your choice) at the Britain login point.

Q: Is all of this going to save? 

Absolutely not! Go wild! The server will be just as it was prior to 2pm right afterward!

Battlegrounds

• The Pinnacle now has no join requirements

Bugs

• A crash bug was fixed.
• Several Treasury Region bugs were fixed.

Monsters & Dungeons

• Skeletal Mages now appear differently.
• Skeletal Dragons no longer produce barbed hides.
• White Wyrms added to the game.
• Shadow Wyrms now have increased treasure.
• White and Shadow Wyrms have had their breath effects altered.
• Wrong Dungeon has been revamped.

Regions

• “Evil” regions have been added wherein all players are flagged criminal and no murder counts are applied for killing players. These areas are now: Yew Orc Fort, Destard Swamp, Yew Crypts in addition to Buccaneer’s Den.

Weapons & Magic

• The Quarterstaff now does slightly less high end damage.
• The War Hammer now does slightly more high end damage.
• The Bardiche now provides an even more reliable damage range, with slightly less high end damage.
• The Harm spell now interrupts at 100% success rate every 5 seconds.
• The Heal spell has been reduced in effectiveness slightly.

Changes to the mechanics of Player versus Player combat are being considered on IPY 2. Chief among these at the moment are changes to the Harm and Heal spells. Players may view this thread on the forums for further discussion on the topic.

Several changes to the Heal spell are proposed. Today, we are placing an official poll on the website for our players to vote on. We have five options for you to chose from in relation to the Heal spell:

• Reduce Damage Healed
• Increase Mana Cost
• Introduce Casting Delay
• Diminishing Returns
• No Change Necessary

We’re committed to improving the state of Player versus Player combat on IPY over the summer, and we’re very interested in the opinions of our players. Thanks for voting!
